Mormon, Moroni and Joseph
About Me:
Welcome to my website.
My name is Alan. I am retired and have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for almost 50 years. Throughout my life, I have had a deep interest in Christianity, scripture, Church history, doctrine, and the Restoration of the Gospel through the Prophet Joseph Smith.
This website is the result of many years of study, reflection, and writing. Here you will find a growing collection of essays and treatises that explore faith, doctrine, history, apologetics, scripture, and contemporary issues affecting belief in Jesus Christ and His restored Church.
My Beliefs
I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Savior and Redeemer of mankind, and the central figure in God's plan for His children.
I believe that God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith and that the Restoration of the Gospel was a real historical event. I believe that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ and that it stands as powerful evidence of Joseph Smith's prophetic calling.
I believe that truth is ultimately established by revelation from God. Reason, scholarship, and evidence are valuable tools, but they are not substitutes for divine revelation. Many religious debates arise because people begin with assumptions inherited from tradition, philosophy, or culture rather than from what God has actually revealed.
Much of my writing explores this principle. I seek to understand doctrines and historical events within the framework of revelation rather than through the assumptions of competing theological systems.
My Approach
I strive to be both faithful and analytical.
Faith does not require us to ignore difficult questions, and difficult questions do not require us to abandon faith. I believe honest investigation strengthens genuine belief.
For that reason, I examine controversial topics as well as traditional subjects. I frequently analyze criticisms of the Church, historical claims, doctrinal questions, and competing interpretations of scripture. My goal is not to win arguments but to seek understanding and follow truth wherever it leads.
I welcome evidence, careful reasoning, and honest inquiry. At the same time, I believe that spiritual truths are best understood when studied with both the mind and the spirit.
Why This Website Exists
This website exists for three reasons:
- To strengthen faith in Jesus Christ.
- To help readers better understand the Restoration and the teachings of Joseph Smith.
- To provide thoughtful, well-researched responses to questions, criticisms, and misconceptions regarding the restored Gospel.
The essays presented here are offered freely as a resource for anyone who is searching, questioning, learning, or seeking a deeper understanding of these subjects.
An Invitation
Whether you are a lifelong believer, a curious investigator, a former member, a critic, or simply someone interested in religious questions, you are welcome here.
I do not ask readers to accept my conclusions simply because I have written them. Instead, I invite you to examine the evidence, consider the arguments, study the scriptures, and seek your own answers through prayer and sincere reflection.
Truth has nothing to fear from honest investigation.
Thank you for visiting, and I hope you find something here that informs, inspires, and encourages your own search for truth.

Use of Artificial Intelligence
In preparing many of the articles and treatises on this website, I make use of artificial intelligence as a research, organizational, and editorial tool.
AI assists me in locating information, exploring alternative viewpoints, organizing material, identifying sources, improving clarity, and refining presentation. However, the conclusions, interpretations, analyses, and opinions expressed on this website are my own.
I do not view AI as a substitute for scholarship, critical thinking, or spiritual inquiry. Rather, I use it as a modern tool that helps me study more efficiently and communicate more effectively.
All material published here is reviewed, evaluated, and approved by me before publication but I strongly suggest that anyone attempting a serious study of any of these subjects should do their own research.
